We will be holding our annual meeting on Monday, June 29 at 6 pm, at NYU’s King Juan Carlos I of Spain Center, 53 Washington Square South. Our special guest speaker is Emily Kies Folpe, Ph.D,, art historian and author of It happened on Washington Square. The title of the presentation is “Picturing the Square”. Washington Square through the eyes of artists from Edward Hopper to Red Grooms. Refreshments will be served.

On Tuesday June 23 at 8 pm in Washington Square, Harp & Chamber Orchestra features an unusual program ranging from a setting of Edgar Allen Poe’s “The Mask of Red Death” by André Caplet, to the more familiar Peer Gynt suite by Grieg. Great news for our majestic arch. We just received word from Sarah Neilson at the Parks Department that the lights that shine on the Arch and make it stand out at night are bing upgraded. They will be more energy efficient and hopefully no more flickering. You may see some workers at the arch and the lights could be inconsistent over the next couple weeks, but be prepared for a newly lit, even more beautiful arch.Read More
