How Do We Support  the Park & Community?

We create ways for people to engage

Washington Square Park has always been a home for civic engagement and artistic expression, and we want our neighbors and visitors to experience both. We create meaningful opportunities for people to come together, enjoy this public space and its cultural life, and have a real voice in what happens here.

We stay informed and listen

We show up at community meetings and walk the neighborhood so we can share timely, credible information—and reflect the stories and lived experience you won’t find on a spreadsheet. We keep neighbors in the loop about policy changes through newsletters, media outreach, and direct communication.

We build relationships with leadership

We maintain regular, candid dialogue with NYC Parks, NYPD, the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office, Community Board 2, City Council, and local community and block associations so we can surface problems early and push for solutions that fit Washington Square.

We draw attention to neighborhood needs

We highlight emerging issues and gaps in services to agencies, elected officials, and partner organizations so Washington Square and the surrounding blocks stay visible and prioritized when decisions are made.
